What a lot of common sense you propose. But, it seems that whenever some people get near the prospect of acquiring STDs or HIV, they can't use their heads. It's too emotionally loaded.

Why do they find those diseases so attractive? Seems that espirit de 'corpse' (sic) can be taken too far. If they want to die with their buddies, why don't they go help out in Bagdad?

If a majority of people in the State of Washington believe that GLBT month is wrong and improper, does this mean that a majority of citizens are intolerant or does it mean that a minority of citizens have a intolerant view of tolerant behavior?

OK, I can't just let this go without comment. Among the other things that are wrong about this document, consider these two quotes from the same paragraph:

"Today, citizens from across Washington State will come together in unity, praying for an end to intolerance and discrimination."

And:

"...we must ensure that all voices are heard and respected, and that acts of prejudice and discrimination are not tolerated."

The whole problem with the Politically Correct crowd is that they are only willing to end intolerance for their selected points of view. Those who disagree with them continue to be targets of intolerance.

Interesting article on political correctness here.

So, if you live in a country where the majority of people smoke, the best you can hope for is that they don't make you smoke too? Sorry buddy, religion is not a benign enterprise. It is an assault on both science and reason and should not be tolerated by rational people any more than any other kind of assault. I suspect there are far more atheists than show up in measurements. Rational people do not always identify themselves as members of a persecuted minority. (See Gays, Muslims and Seahawks fans.)

Religion and the concept of "God" are nothing more than superstition and wishful thinking dressed up in a lot of gobbledy-gook.

No evidence exists of an afterlife, a Supreme Being that has knowledge of humanity, or that there are any consequences to behavior that persist past death.

The Catholic religion is based on the concept of "faith" which, loosely translated, means, "trust us, we know stuff that you don't." They don't.

Making a logical argument to assert the validity of religious beliefs is like explaining how Santa Claus can deliver all of the presents using quantum physics.

Could there actually be a Santa Claus? Sure, anything's possible. Is there one? Damn unlikely.

Grow up. When you're dead you're dead.
