NaBloPoMo Ends

no comment

Well, it all fell apart at the end.

I was actually on track, until the day before Thanksgiving.  That’s when I started playing Dead Rising, and it sucked my blogging time away.  What can I say… I’m a sucker for zombies invading shopping malls.

It was kind of neat having an external driver for posting.  Having an external push, with a deadline, always helps me focus.  I’m not sure if the everyday format works that well for me, though.  My better posts take a couple of hours (at least) to write, and I don’t have the commitment now to spend that much time on blogging.

Also, the whole Social Security series never really gelled. Posting on a daily basis, my blogging was pretty reactive, and I struggled with follow through on the plan.

I’m glad I did NaBloPoMo this year, even if I didn’t fully succeed.

Travel Day

I’m on a business trip to Washington, DC.  Normally, that would mean evenings spent on my Xbox 360 — gotta kill the time somehow — but the Melrose Hotel doesn’t have TVs that allow you to connect up the Xbox.  That’s so backward!

On the other hand, I’ll probably have some time to spend blogging, so…  more on Social Security tomorrow, I guess.

Change of Scene

About two months ago, I changed my web host from Verio to GoDaddy.com to save some money.  It’s taken me this long to hook up my blog, but finally, McPheet.com is back on line.

And, as you may have noticed, I’ve also changed from Movable Type to WordPress.   I’d been considering making some kind of change in my blogging software, because I was getting tons of trackback spam, but this change was basically driven by my choices at GoDaddy.  There were several options, but I’ve heard good things about WordPress, so I thought I’d give it a try.

I’m going to try to get back in the blogging habit.  I’ve got a new co-worker, Ling, and she’s doing NaBloPoMo, National Blog Posting Month, in which you post every day during the month of November.  I probably should have jumped on board, too, but I didn’t have the blog hooked up yet. (It still needs some visual work, but at least now I’ve got the old content in place.)

I’m planning on starting some review of the new election season.  Personally, I don’t really think it should be necessary to pay attention to a presidential election until election year starts, but by the start of the new year, we may already know who the nominees will be.

Anyhow, it’s nice to be back.
